 The Canada Plastics Pact (CPP) is creating a circular economy in Canada in which plastic waste is kept in the economy and out of the environment. Canada Plastics Pact Partners are united, working together on achieving clear, actionable targets by the year 2025. |
The retail and consumer goods industry generates one-third of plastic waste. That means we should be at least one-third of the solution. We develop, package and sell the products, so it’s in our control. We know more can be done to reduce plastic waste, and that we need progressive policies and systems that keep plastics out of nature. The Canada Plastics Pact brings industry together to do just that.
In order to achieve Canada’s goal of zero plastic waste by 2030, we must all work together – governments, the private sector and all Canadians – to keep plastic out of our environment and in our economy. The Canada Plastics Pact is an important step from Canadian business and non-governmental leaders in the transition to a more circular economy. Together, we are creating a cleaner, healthier and more prosperous future for our children and grandchildren.
Unilever Canada is proud to sign on to the Canada Plastics Pact (CPP) and contribute to the work needed to address the plastic pollution crisis. The time is now for a coordinated response. Only by collaborating and pooling the resources and expertise of businesses, government and NGOs will we be able to accelerate the creation of a circular economy for plastics ensuring it stays in the economy, off our shorelines, and out of our parks and communities.
Climate change is real and we need to act with urgency. Walmart is on a path to becoming a regenerative company – one that works to restore, renew and replenish. The Canada Plastics Pact is part of acting urgently and I am proud to join with all the businesses taking action to reduce plastic use. I believe that together we will make a difference.

On June 14th and 15th, The Natural Step Canada hosted Open House receptions at our new location in Ottawa. Members of the community, including students, corporate employees, retirees, individuals from government, and interested citizens, came out to hear how The Natural Step is helping businesses, communities and future leaders address the challenge of implementing sustainability.
